Statement of Research Interest
We are interested in the phenomenon that some lower vertebrates such as fish and amphibians can regenerate their damaged retina. Currently we use zebrafish as a model system to investigate the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying retinal regeneration. We are particularly interested in how injury signals promote the dedifferentiation and proliferation of Muller glia, and how their daughter progenitor cells migrate and differentiate into newborn retinal neurons. We are also interested in the development of eye and retina.
